How to Get Glitter Off Carpet, Clothes and Floors

Before you start

• Do not shake glitter off clothes or fabric. It only spreads to other rooms.
• Move slowly. Rushing can push glitter deeper into fabric.
• Skip the vacuum method on delicate fabrics such as velvet, silk and raw linen, and test tape on a hidden spot first.
• After you finish, wipe glitter off the vacuum's floor tool so it does not travel to other rooms.

On carpet and hard floors

1. Vacuum slowly over the area with at least two or three passes.
2. Wipe glitter off the vacuum's floor tool with a damp paper towel, turn 90 degrees and vacuum the same area again.
3. Use the crevice tool on corners, edges and baseboards.
4. Press a lint roller, or packing tape wrapped sticky side out around your hand, onto what is left. Use a fresh sheet or strip when it fills.
5. On a hard floor, finish with a damp microfiber cloth.

On upholstery and clothes

1. On sturdy upholstery, vacuum with an upholstery tool in small sections, two or three slow passes each. About every minute, wipe glitter off the tool with a damp paper towel.
2. Press a lint roller or tape onto what remains.
3. For light glitter, rub a dryer sheet gently in small circles. Flip or fold it when it fills.
4. On clothes, roll a lint roller over the glittery area before washing, then wash as the care label allows.
