Short answerStart with the maker's own note list and concentration, then buy a small size or sample before a full bottle. On the pages we could read, Dossier, Lovery, Oakcha and Instyle say outright that their bottle is inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540, and each publishes saffron and jasmine. None of them claims to be the same perfume, and a note list says nothing about how a bottle wears on skin.

What to read on Maison Francis Kurkdjian's own page

MFK's own product page is the reference for notes, concentration and sizes. Its server returned HTTP 403 to our fetch on November 8, 2026, so we did not copy anything from it and did not fill the gap from retailers or fragrance databases. Here is what to read there before you compare.

  • The note list as MFK words it, and whether it splits notes into top, heart and base or gives a single list. Makers of the alternatives below do it both ways, so compare like with like.
  • The concentration named in the product title. MFK sells the eau de parfum and an extrait de parfum as separate products, and several alternatives here are compared with one or the other.
  • The bottle sizes offered. A 70 ml bottle and a 5 ml travel size are different purchases, and small sizes are the cheapest way to compare.
  • Any wording on the page about the perfume's origin or creators, so you can tell what the brand claims from what resellers say about it.

If you open MFK's page and its notes differ from what is quoted below for an alternative, trust MFK's page for the original and the alternative's own page for the alternative.

How to compare an alternative with the original

  1. Match the strength first. Oakcha's page states that extrait de parfum holds 30-40% aromatic compounds and eau de parfum 10-20%, and Dossier labels its eau de parfum 18% and its extrait 30%. An extrait compared with an eau de parfum is not a like-for-like test.
  2. Read the maker's own notes, not the retailer's. Notes in this guide come from the maker's product page for each bottle. Where a maker page could not be read, the table and the notes matrix say so.
  3. Look for the maker's own words. Only call a bottle an alternative if the maker or the listing title says it is inspired by the original. A shared note list is not a claim of equivalence.
  4. Order a small size or sample of the alternative and of the original if you can, and spray each on a separate strip or area of skin. Judge them after they have settled, not at the first spray.
  5. Decide by how it wears on you, not by the note list. Notes tell you what a maker lists, and skin, climate and application change the rest.

Bottles worth comparing, and the original

  1. Dossier Ambery Saffron Eau de Parfum (50 ml)

Suits: Shoppers who want a maker that says outright which perfume it is inspired by.

Dossier's page says Ambery Saffron is "inspired by MFK's Baccarat Rouge 540" and adds "Dossier is not affiliated with MFK." It lists saffron and orange blossom on top, jasmine, plum and cedarwood in the heart, and oakmoss, fir balsam and amber at the base, at a stated concentration of 18%. The page lists 50 ml and 100 ml sizes. Dossier also sells a separate extrait version, which is a different product with different listed notes.

  2. Lovery Saffron & Amber Eau de Parfum

Suits: Anyone comparing a larger bottle of a US-made eau de parfum.

Lovery's page describes it as "Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540" and names orange blossom, saffron, jasmine, cedarwood, plum, amber, oakmoss and fir balsam. The bottle is listed at 3.38 fl oz and "Made in USA". The page gives no concentration percentage, so it cannot be lined up against the others on strength.

  3. OAKCHA Sweven Extrait de Parfum (50 ml)

Suits: People who specifically want an extrait-strength option from a maker that names the original.

Oakcha calls Sweven an extrait de parfum "inspired by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540" and lists jasmine, saffron, orange and marigold on top, ambroxan and evernyl in the heart, and cedarwood, ambergris and fir balsam at the base. Oakcha's own table puts extrait at 30-40% aromatic compounds against 10-20% for eau de parfum. That makes it a different strength from the eau de parfum it is compared with, which matters when you judge it.

  4. Instyle Fragrances Cassis Amberwood Eau de Parfum

Suits: Buyers who want a lower-cost bottle and are happy to check it with a sample first.

The maker's page is titled "Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540" and lists jasmine and saffron on top, amberwood and woody notes in the heart, and fir balsam, resin and amberwood at the base. It is described as an Eau de Parfum in a 100 mL / 3.4 fl. oz size. The page states no concentration percentage, and we could not confirm an exact matching Amazon listing, so the link is a search.

  5. ALT. Fragrances Crystal No. 23 Extrait de Parfum (60 ml)

Suits: Readers who want to see how a brand that markets itself on the comparison describes its own bottle.

The Amazon listing title reads "Inspired by Bac. Roug. 540" and mentions jasmine, amberwood and cedar notes in an extrait de parfum, 60ml. The maker's own page answered our fetch with a bot check, so its note list and concentration are not copied here, and the notes table marks it as not confirmed. Treat the title wording as the seller's claim only.

  6. Armaf Club de Nuit Untold Eau de Parfum (3.6 oz)

Suits: Readers who want to compare notes only, with no inspiration claim attached.

Armaf's page does not mention Baccarat Rouge 540, so this is not described as an alternative, only as a bottle with overlapping published notes. It lists saffron and jasmine on top, amberwood and ambergris in the heart, and fir resin and cedar at the base, in an eau de parfum labeled woody and unisex. Sizes on the page run from 0.34 oz to 6.8 oz, which makes a small bottle possible.

  7. The original: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum

Suits: The benchmark: use it, or a sample of it, as the reference every other bottle is judged against.

This is the perfume every other pick is compared with. Maison Francis Kurkdjian's own product page blocked our fetch (HTTP 403), so this page states no note list, concentration or size for it from MFK. No in-stock Amazon listing matched this exact product, so the link is a search. Check MFK's page for its notes and sizes before comparing.

The notes each maker publishes, side by side

Maison Francis Kurkdjian's own product page refused our request when we checked it, so we could not copy its note list. So instead of guessing the original's list, this table uses a reference set built only from the alternatives' own pages: 5 materials (saffron; jasmine; amber, amberwood or ambergris; cedar; fir balsam or fir resin) that at least 4 of the makers we could read list. We copied each note list from the maker's page on November 8, 2026. We could confirm a maker's list for 5 of the 6 alternatives; the others are marked with the reason. A shared note list is a starting point, not proof that two perfumes smell the same.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good Baccarat Rouge 540 dupe?

No bottle can be proven the same without smelling both. On the pages we read, Dossier Ambery Saffron, Lovery Saffron & Amber, Oakcha Sweven and Instyle Cassis Amberwood say they are inspired by it, so start there and sample before buying.

Can an alternative really match the original?

Makers describe their bottles as inspired by it, and Dossier states it is not affiliated with MFK. A note list shows overlap on paper, but only a side-by-side sample on your own skin shows how close two perfumes are.

Does a higher concentration mean a better match?

Not by itself. Concentration changes strength, so compare eau de parfum with eau de parfum and extrait with extrait. A stronger bottle is simply a different strength, not a closer copy.

Are Al Haramain Amber Oud Rouge and Ariana Grande Cloud on this list?

No. We could not read a maker page for Al Haramain Amber Oud Rouge, and Ariana Grande Cloud's pages do not describe it as inspired by the original, so each has its own page on this site instead.

How we chose

This guide is desk research. We read each maker's own product page, saved the page, and copied the note list, size and concentration wording from it. We compared published information only and did not test, wear or smell any of these perfumes, so nothing here describes how a bottle smells or wears.

Candidates were dropped when the maker page was blocked (Maison Alhambra, Lattafa, Zara's page needs JavaScript, and MFK itself) or when it gave no usable note list. The Alt. Fragrances page returned a bot check, so that pick is kept on the strength of its listing title and flagged. Amazon listings were checked at time of writing, on November 8, 2026, and an exact link is used only where the listing is the same product, new and in stock; otherwise the link is a search. Prices change and are left out.
